Two Words: Sox Bullpen. One name: Eric Gagne. One Month: August. When you combine these three things you get a slumping Sox team who is only four games infront of the Yankees who are on fire. Now who do I put the blame on? Eric Gagne who has a 15.75 ERA and is absolutely horrible? No im not gonna blame him because I actually think it still was a good trade and he will come around. Should I blame Terry Francona? I mean he keeps putting Gagne in game after game and he keeps blowing it. Mr. Francona you get 20% of the blame. The rest of the blame goes to 3 other people involved in the Red Sox organization and the month of August. These 3 people are Theo Epstein, Red Sox Nation and of course Willy Mo Pena. First off Theo, I love the trade for gagne because I think he will eventually come around and be a great setup man for number 58. I still would have liked to see Jermaine Dye in a Sox uniform because I believe he would be able to help a slumping offense. Next on my blame game is Red Sox Nation. I have read many blogs about this series of events over the past weekend and have seen little to no support for the sox on these sites. The Yankees fans are going crazy calling us out and the members of Red Sox Nation aren't showing up. Don't sit there all quite RSN, speak up and tell the world why we are better then them. I know we do not have a lot to be happy about right now but KEEP THE FAITH!!!!! Last but not least Willy Mo Pena. I just want to blame him because he is awful. I wanted him traded but of course not Theo, we have to keep him. He is like the Brian Scalabrine of the Sox, he sits on the bench and contributes once every 30 games.
As a closing statement let me just say this, Don't give up on the Sox. The Yankees cannot keep hitting the way they are and their starting pitching will eventually kill them. Gagne will come around and our bullpen will be awesome once again. This will be the same for our offense and Ortiz will be clutch once again. So Sox fans keep the faith and not only root for the Sox against Tampa Bay but root for the Orioles against the Yankees. And of course Boo Willy Mo.
Who do you think is to Blame for this Red Sox Collapse? Blog it up!

I agree. With Gagne not showing up and Willy Mo taking up a spot on the roster by playing once in a blue moon, the Red Sox are in a tight spot. The blame in my opinion lies in several places. (1)Theo (2) Drew (3) Willy Mo and (4) a lack of leadership in the locker room.
First, Theo... why can't you see that you thouroughly messed up not getting Dye? JD Drew is a failure... is he playing scared... scared to get injured? maybe... or does he just suck, yeah. So... Theo fights to get Gagne to fill a spot that does not need to be filled... giving up the promising Gabard and two prospects (who we probably would not use any ways) but why not use Gabard and the oooh so useful Willy Mo to get Dye... and screw keeping Drew... throw him in the deal too. Dye could easily fill his spot and maybe we could actually see some production out of right field. If this happened we would have a stong out field with no gaps, especially in right field and a possible inspiring offensive power in Dye and with all this we would still have an awesome bullpen.
But who knows maybe Theo is thinking not just about this year but also about next year. The ever aging Schilling will probably be let go at the end of the year, and with Gagne the team could move Papelbon to starter and put Gagne in as closer (a more comfortable place for him) and still have Oki as set up next year.
But the trade dealine has passed and we have to live with what we've got.
Now Red Sox Nation don't freat there is still time and we still hold the largest lead in MLB. Yes the Yankees are gently and slowly pulling the rug out from under our feet, but I have faith. The Red Sox will find offense like they always do even if it has to come from Pedroia, Lowell, or Youk and not 24 and 34. There will be an October for the Red Sox!!! KEEP THE FAITH!
Hey guys... last night the sox squeeked by the Rays with help from... I hate to say 'I told you so', but I told you so... Mike Lowell. What a bomb. Now Terry why, why, oooh why would you think to go with Gagne last night, do you want to make me lose my lunch. It worked out eventually with some sweet K's and what-not but come on man, are you mad at Papelbon or something, you haven't used him in a key spot since we got Gagne... is he secretly hurt or do you just favor Canadians over 58? Oh well, good win boys and the Yankees, yeah good job last night; you guys made me feel confident in your sucking ability.
