It was reported yesterday that Willy Mo Pena has been traded to the Nationals for the Invisible Man. I did not think it could be done, but the Nationals actually found a way in which they could become worse. Of course they did get money with the deal which will pay for the drinks they need everytime the see Big Willy step up to the plate. Now on to the player the Red Sox got: the Invisible Man. Who is he? What does he look like? is he a pitcher or a hitter? Does he like Fenway Franks? All these questions will be answered when the, "time is right" according to Theo Epstein.
Now comes the time in which I predict who the Sox got from the NATS. I believe the Sox will get power hitting Dmitri Young from the Nationals because he is older and the Nationals are a rebuilding team. Now this is completely an optomistic pick and hopefully it happens but the Sox will probably get a low end player because Willy Mo Pena is not amazing. On a more serious note, I kind of wanted to keep Willy Mo so I could have someone to blame everything on but right when Willy gets traded someone else steps into the blame game. So heres to you mr. can't save a game even if it was against Tampa Bay, Eric Gagne.

I don't have much to say about the Willy Mo trade except... why now? Was Theo asleep at the trade deadline... I've said it before and I'll say it again... we should have included him in a trade for Dye... but Ohhh Yeah we really needed the Ohhh SOoooOSOooo reliable Gagne... and for you Eric I wonder if you are just adjusting to the climate because off the colder weather than Texas (a load of BS) or that the fans actually care compared to Texas... or maybe he caught the JD Drew flu bug of suckiness... aww I can't rant on JD Drew he actually got a couple of hits this past series he finally showed up to work and earned his salary... YOU BUM...
Okay calm down Moose too much fury; too much blame to go around... o well we still hold the largest lead of any division...
Okay about the Willy Mo trade, finally back on track... good ridence I say to you Willy Mo... good ridence... the invisible man, could be Young or just some money and an unknown prospect because that's all Pena is worth... but Theo sounded optimistic yesterday saying, "...It's hard to blame him for FAILING to adjust to that role. It's a very difficult role. I think this is probably what's best for him. He goes somewhere where he can play every day; we get a player back that we like quite a bit" (www.redsox.com). So the invisible man remains invisible but "we like him quite a bit" thanks for being specific Theo, but don't worry I understand the time is not right for the announcement... ooh wait no I don't?!
Alright so I lied at the beginning I did have quite a bit to say about the Willy Mo trade and If you read this far I applaud your efforts. Just one more rant.... Schilling sucks, Drew bites, Gagne is worse than Timlin, and good luck to my boy Tavarez... KEEP THE FAITH...
No more Wily Mo means more ABs for Hinske, who has clearly been the better OF off the bench.
In a few weeks we'll have the kids up from Pawtucket, so don't expect this "invisible man" to play a rle in 2007.
Who will he be? Well, since Dimitri Young just signed a 2-year, $10 million extention... and Nick Johnson just went under the knife, again, I think it's safe to say it won't be Young... sorry Alex.
"Players to be named later" are almost always minor leaguers... so my guess is Theo will grab a young RP... although OF Nook Logan would be a nice 4th OF to have in 2008...
I personally feel that this is a good trade for the nationals, who can afford to have willy mo batting 200 with 40 HRs. He has already shown in his few years with the Reds that he can hit national league pitching.
As for the invisible man, following theo's track record in the past few years, we will get rid of lugo, pay half his salary to convince someone to take him, and recieve yet another short stop in the form of Felipe Lopez who we will sign to a hefty contract and be failed yet again.
In the end i bet we will just get one of the many prospects under the Washington system who wont make any impact, if any, for several years. With that being said, the nationals are also full of players whose contracts are ending after this season and could be looking to dish off any number of them after clearing waivers.
i personally dont care who we get, i would have released willy mo for nothing if it were an option, i liked the guy and hope he has a much better future in the national league.
