Hard choice, but i have to go with D Ortiz. He's the man. Whenever u are feeling depressed about the game he somehow finds a way to make a game changing hit! Fuck Yeah!

even though he hasn't been playing his best baseball, jewlius must vote for big papi. he has repeatedly come up huge in the past, and influenced the sox in a slightly bigger way than bruschi influenced the pats

Ortiz...It's gotta be Ortiz, simply because of what he did in 2004 in the post-season, plus all of the awards he has won, plus the record-setting year last season with home runs. Bruschi has been awesome with the Pats and will be missed when he retires, I'm not saying he isn't good, but Ortiz gets my vote.

Bruschi had a stroke. He came back from an extremely serious medical condition to be one of the most recognized leaders and idols of new england sports history. A lesser man would have taken a long break, blamed the doctors, and sat around while he got paid for doing nothing. Bruschi brushed it off like it was a fly and went back to kicking ass. Bruschi get my vote. That doesn't make big papi any less of a man though.

how do I vote? Its gotta be Ortiz too. I like Bruschi, but the Pats defensive coordination is Belichick and always has been.

This is tough it's like deciding between pizza and nachos when all you want is something cheesey. Bruschi acts as the pizza in this case. Always filling always reliable and an excellent topping to any Pats defense. D Ortiz is like nachos in this situation. A quick fix to fill that late ninth inning hunger and always 'spicy' in key situations. In this case MY VOTE goes to ORTIZ, not because I like nachos over pizza in most cases but because I feel his contributions to the Red Sox in the past are more visibly identifiable than Bruschi's solid defense. This is a defensive player(TB) verses an offensive player (DO)and frankly offense 'tastes' better to me and David Ortiz wins my vote... and now I'm hungry...

Their both crazy good at what they do, but I have to go with Bruschi. As much at Ortiz has done, it's a lot easier to make a difference when you are the only one up to bat and it's a 1 on 1 battle. Bruschi has to fight through more opposition to look good and show his strengths.

Ortiz. I feel like he is a rally point for Boston Sports. You can always count on him. And he has the Name "Big Papi." You dont mess with a guy with a name like that.

The Bottomline said...

I love the "Pizza vs Nachos" analogy.

The fact that Ortiz made ESPN's bracket, and Bruschi did not, shows that Big Papi is more "now."

Bruschi is a reliable soilder for the Pats and is clearly a fan favorite, but even with a mediocre 2007, Ortiz is a superstar in New England.

All that said, neither player will have to buy a Duncaccino or a Sam's Summer at 'Game On!' for the rest of their lives...
